Here's hoping that 2013 brings with it plenty of time for fun, relaxation, and good cheer.
For my resolution this year, I'm going with the idea of "re-wilding"--that is, returning to primordial wildness before complexity. I learned about this concept from Elizabeth Kolbert in the last New Yorker of 2012. Of course, it's not normally applied to individuals, but it works for me.
In describing this idea to my friend over tea, we looked on the wall above us and found artwork that said it another way. Might be a little scary--but there's beauty in that.
I have, as well, a new year's cautionary note to myself. Slow. That's it. Just take it slow-- perhaps inspired by the upcoming visit of Paul Simon.
